The EX-12 Meta at a Glance
EX-12: Digital World Shambala has reshaped the Digimon TCG meta in ways nobody fully predicted. The format launched July 3, 2026 and within weeks produced a genuinely diverse competitive landscape — no single deck runs away with it. Across 57 North American store championships alone, 23 different decks earned at least one invite finish.
The dominant story of EX-12 is the rise of new EX-12-native archetypes. Toho Braves emerged as the highest win-rate deck in the format almost overnight, powered entirely by EX-12 cards. Saiyu Warriors debuted as the second new EX-12 archetype and immediately carved a place in the top 3 by meta share. Meanwhile, holdovers from BT-25 — BeelStarmon (3M), Glowing Dawn, Jupitermon, and Vulcanusmon — continue to perform, though their relative standings have shifted.
📌 Meta Health Check
The EX-12 meta is one of the healthiest the game has seen. DigiLab’s June Store Championship analysis noted that “no single archetype claimed even a sixth of the invite finishes” and 23 different decks earned at least one win. This is exactly the kind of open meta that rewards player skill and deck-building creativity.

⚠ Tier C Note
Tier C decks are not bad — they are popular among players who love their archetypes. Gammamon and Virus Busters have large pilot counts because they are fun and thematic. They just do not currently convert popularity into wins at the same rate as Tier S and A decks.
Tier S — Tournament Winners
These decks are winning more than 65% of their matches and placing first at a disproportionate rate relative to their pilot count. If you are playing to win at your next locals or regional, start here.
Tier A — Consistent Performers
Tier A decks are winning more than 55% of their matches and converting pilots to top finishes at a healthy rate. These are all legitimate choices for competitive play.
Tier B — Viable But Inconsistent
Tier B decks have legitimate game plans but inconsistent tournament results. Glowing Dawn is a notable special case — by far the most popular deck but underperforming relative to that popularity.
Why These Decks Are Winning: The EX-12 Meta Pattern
The data from DigiLab’s June Store Championship analysis reveals a clear pattern across the EX-12 meta: interactive disruption beats linear aggro every time.
What Tier S Decks Do
+Disrupt opponent Tamers (removing resource generation)
+Answer effect-immune Digimon with unconditional removal
+Generate board presence faster than opponents can answer
+Have multiple ways to win (not a single linear line)
+Punish opponents who lean on Tamer-dependent engines
What Struggling Decks Do
−Race linearly without disrupting opponent’s gameplan
−Depend on Tamers for resource generation (exploitable)
−Have a single win condition that opponents can prepare for
−Rely on speed in a meta that has caught up to aggro
−Lack tools to answer the format’s dominant threats
This explains why Toho Braves emerged at the top: it generates board presence (passive advantage), removes opponent Digimon unconditionally (Amaterasumon), and its Sanmyojin engine gives it multiple threat vectors that are difficult to answer simultaneously. Vulcanusmon won for the same reason — unconditional deletion and Tamer disruption in a meta where everyone is relying on Tamers.
The lesson for deck builders: in EX-12, if your deck cannot interact with the opponent’s gameplan, it is racing. And in this meta, the interactive decks are fast enough to match the racers while also disrupting them.
