Digimon BT-27 — One Week Out: What the Latest Reveals Tell Us
Digimon BT-27 releases in Japan August 29 — nine days away. The first major card reveals have dropped and we now have a clear picture of what this set delivers for EN players to watch.
What We Know From BT-27 Reveals
BT-27 continues building the Dual Card system introduced in BT-25, but the design focus has shifted toward what Bandai is calling “Legacy Connections” — pairs of Digimon across different evolutionary stages that have shared history in the anime and games, now mechanically linked through Dual Card interactions.
New Dual Card Highlights
The most discussed BT-27 Dual Cards feature connections between iconic Champion and Ultimate-level Digimon that haven’t shared a card before. The mechanic is evolving: BT-27 Dual Cards have a new “Legacy Trigger” ability that activates when both sides have been played in the same game, creating a reward for running dedicated Dual Card builds.
New Support for Existing Lines
Several Digimon lines that received initial support in BT-26 EN get upgraded pieces in BT-27 Japanese, meaning EN players will see those payoffs land roughly 3–4 months after the Japanese release — putting the competitive impact in early 2027.
What This Means for EN Players
BT-27 Japanese sets the card pool that will hit EN around February–March 2027 based on current localization timing. Right now your focus should be BT-26 EN (September 4) and the current BT-25 format — but tracking BT-27 Japanese reveals tells you where the game is heading.
Specifically: if you’re deciding which Digimon lines to invest in for long-term play, BT-27 Legacy Trigger support should be a factor. Lines that get Dual Card payoffs in both BT-26 EN and BT-27 EN will be meta-relevant for a full year.
