What Is EX-12: Digital World Shambala?
EX-12: Extra Booster Digital World Shambala is the 12th Extra Booster set released for the Digimon Card Game, landing on July 3, 2026 — just six weeks after BT-25 Dual Revolution. It is a landmark release for several reasons: it introduces the third new Digital World to the card game (after the first two Shambala sets in BT-22 and BT-23), brings long-awaited God Digimon to their card debut, celebrates Digimon Ghost Game’s 5th anniversary, and continues expanding the new Dual Card mechanic introduced in BT-25.
Based on the Eastern Digital World “Shambala” — the setting for last year’s LCD toy Digimon Pendulum COLOR (6 SAIYUWARRIORS / 7 TOHOBRAVES) — EX-12 brings a deeply lore-rich lineup of Digimon that fans of the virtual pet and classic Digital Monster lines have been waiting years to see on cards.
📅 Act Fast — This Set Releases July 3
EX-12 is the next set releasing. Pre-orders are open now. As an Extra Booster with only 25 packs per box (one more than a standard box), initial allocations can sell through quickly at launch. Do not wait if you want guaranteed product.
The Three Major Themes of EX-12
The Eastern Digital World: Shambala
Shambala is the third distinct Digital World introduced in the Digimon Card Game, following the Western and Northern Digital Worlds. EX-12 focuses on the Eastern realm — a setting rich with mythology inspired by Chinese and Japanese legend. Digimon here draw from the traditions of the Sanmyojin (divine gods of Ashino Island) and the Saneiketsu (warrior protectors of the Genshi Continent), giving the set a distinct visual identity unlike anything previously in the TCG.
Digimon Ghost Game — 5th Anniversary
The beloved Ghost Game anime, which first aired in 2021, celebrates its 5th anniversary this year. EX-12 directly acknowledges this milestone by including enhanced support for Ghost Game characters: Hiro Amanokawa, Kiyoshiro Higashimitarai, and Ruli Tsukiyono as Tamer cards, alongside their partner Digimon. Ghost Game-themed decks like Siriusmon, which received its first major support in AD-01, get even stronger in EX-12.
Dual Card Mechanic Expansion
BT-25 introduced Dual Cards. EX-12 expands them. Bandai has confirmed that EX-12 continues the Dual Card mechanic and introduces new combinations, particularly around the Olympos XII and Eastern Shambala Digimon. If you built a Dual Card deck in BT-25, expect key new pieces here.
God Digimon Making Their Card Debut
EX-12 is the set Digimon lore fans have been waiting for. Several iconic Digimon from the Pendulum COLOR series and Digimon mythology are getting their first-ever card game appearances:
God Digimon — Lv.6 — Saiyu Warriors
SeitenGokuumon
The legendary pilgrim warrior making his Digimon TCG debut. SeitenGokuumon’s [On Play] and [When Digivolving] effects reduce opponent’s Digimon DP, then he gains Rush to attack immediately. Combined with Assembly synergy and Saiyu Warriors allies, his effects become progressively more powerful. When he leaves the battle area, two allies take his place — making him difficult to remove profitably.
▶ Core of the Saiyu Warriors archetype. High competitive ceiling.
God Digimon — Lv.7 — Sanmyojin
Amaterasumon
The divine sun god Digimon and one of the three Sanmyojin bringing peace to Ashino Island. Amaterasumon has immense removal power, deleting opponent Digimon without restriction. Reaches the field by digivolving from Shishimamon, who weakens opponent’s security stack to enable cost-reduced digivolution. A Lv.7 with unconditional deletion is a serious competitive threat.
▶ Chase rare target. Expect SR or UR rarity. High demand.
God Digimon — Sanmyojin
Kaguyamon
The lunar goddess Sanmyojin member who bestows Blocker and Retaliation to your allied Digimon. Her defensive synergies transform your entire board — suddenly every Digimon in your battle area can block and counter-kill attackers. Pairs powerfully with aggressive Shambala builds that want both offensive and defensive pressure.
▶ Defensive archetype enabler. High value for control players.
Creator God — Lv.7 — Greatest Digital World God
Susanoomon
The creator of the Digital World: Shambala and the most powerful God Digimon in EX-12. Susanoomon’s power scales with the number of colors in its digivolution stack — the more colors, the stronger its [On Play] and [When Digivolving] effects. Digivolve a Lv.6 into Susanoomon after using Assembly to stack multiple colors, then if Onibimon is in the digivolution cards, he gains Rush and Execute for an immediate overwhelming attack.
▶ Showpiece chase card. The set’s visual and power centerpiece.
Warrior — Saneiketsu
Erlangmon
Saneiketsu protector of the Genshi Continent. Activates transformation abilities when leaving the battle area, keeping the front line strong with the divine weapon Kotenken. Enables unique comeback mechanics — being removed from the field is a trigger, not a setback.
▶ Unique removal-triggered effects. Interesting for control builds.
New Traits: [ME] Metal Empire & [VB] Virus Busters
EX-12 introduces two brand-new Digimon traits to the English card game: [ME] Metal Empire and [VB] Virus Busters. These join the existing [DS] Dragon’s Soul and [WG] Wind Guardians traits already in the Shambala lineup.
[ME] Metal Empire
The mechanized faction of the Eastern Digital World. Metal Empire Digimon tend toward aggressive, high-DP strategies with powerful On Play effects. If Machinedramon and MetalGarurumon builds interest you, Metal Empire is your trait in EX-12.
[VB] Virus Busters
Holy and protective Digimon that combat viral threats in the Eastern Digital World. Virus Busters lean toward defensive and supportive effects — Blocker grants, Retaliation enabling, and board-wide protection. Kaguyamon is the flagship VB Digimon in this set.
📌 Why New Traits Matter
New traits are not just flavor — they define future synergy windows. Option cards, Tamer effects, and future sets will reference [ME] and [VB] specifically. Getting in early on a new trait is how competitive players find value before the meta prices in.
Rarity Breakdown & What to Expect Opening Packs
EX-12 contains 83 card types (plus alternative arts) distributed as follows:
| Rarity | Count | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 27 | Expect 5–6 per pack. Core Shambala and Ghost Game support. |
| Uncommon | 20 | 2–3 per pack. Solid playable support cards. |
| Rare | 21 | ~1 per pack. Includes strong synergy pieces. |
| Super Rare | 12 | ~1 per 3 packs. Key competitive cards including Sanmyojin members. |
| Ultimate Rare | 3 | ~1 per 2–3 boxes. The three chase God Digimon URs. |
| Secret Rare | 2 | ~1 per 4–5 boxes. Highest rarity chase cards. |
| SP Card | 6 | Special parallels. Lower pull rate than SR. |
| Alternative Arts | Included | Alt art versions of select cards across all rarities. |
📈 EV Estimate
With 3 URs in 83 card types, EX-12 has a healthier UR distribution than BT-25. A single box of 25 packs should yield a good haul of SRs and a reasonable shot at a UR pull. The Ghost Game 5th anniversary cards and Susanoomon will be the most sought-after pieces at launch.
