The October 2026 Meta Snapshot
We are now six weeks into BT-26 Timeless Bonds and two weeks into EX-13 Chivalrous XIII. This is the most important moment in a format’s development — the initial surge of experimentation is over, the broken combos have been identified, and the community has started converging on the genuinely strong lists. Here is what the data shows.
Three developments define the late-October meta:
Development 1 — Jupitermon Is Dominant
The Succession keyword has proven as powerful as early testing suggested. Jupitermon’s ability to lock the board, generate recovery, and protect against Chronomon: Destroy Mode via Aegiochusmon: Holy gives it a favorable matchup against virtually every other strategy.
Development 2 — Royal Knights Enter the Meta
EX-13 Alphamon is placing at locals already. The permanent Tamer lockout is especially effective in a BT-26 meta where every top deck (Jupitermon, Data Squad, BeelStarmon, Glowing Dawn) relies heavily on Tamer resource generation. Alphamon directly attacks the foundation of the format’s strongest strategies.
Development 3 — Chronomon Creates a New Axis
Chronomon: Destroy Mode introduced a new type of disruption the format had not seen. Returning digivolution cards to deck removes inherited effects — nullifying the BeelStarmon counter-trigger, the Jupitermon Succession stack, and the Glowing Dawn trait bonuses simultaneously. Players are now tech-ing specifically against it.
📌 What This Means for Deck Selection
The October 2026 meta rewards decks that have either effect immunity or answers to opponent Tamers. Both Jupitermon (via Aegiochusmon protection) and Alphamon (via Tamer lockout) answer the disruption meta differently. Rosemon: Burst Mode Data Squad is the most affordable path to the top table.
Top 5 Decks to Play Right Now
Based on six weeks of BT-26 + two weeks of EX-13 tournament data, these are the five decks we recommend playing at competitive events in late October 2026:
Jupitermon (Succession Build)
68.2% WR
Tier S • BT-24 + BT-26 + EX-13 support
The most complete deck in the format. SEC Jupitermon’s Succession locks the board. Aegiochusmon: Holy protects against Destroy Mode. Dual Card flexibility makes every card in the deck serve double duty. Nokia Shiramine (EX13-067) is now the recommended Tamer inclusion for the -3 cost on first Royal Knight digivolution.
▶ Best deck in the room. Learn this if you want to win.
Rosemon Burst Mode / Data Squad
62.4% WR
Tier S • ST-24 + BT-26 • Budget-Friendly
The most accessible Tier S deck. Start with ST-24 Data Squad ($15.99) and add Rosemon: Burst Mode (SR, ~$20-30). The 0-cost Lv.7 board freeze wins games that no other deck can win from the same memory cost. Upgrading from the old ShineGreymon build requires one SR card.
▶ Best budget path to Tier S. ST-24 + 1 SR = competitive.
Alphamon / Royal Knights
61.5% WR
Tier A rising • EX-13 Chivalrous XIII
Two weeks old and already placing. Alphamon’s Tamer lockout is uniquely powerful against the BT-26 meta which universally depends on Tamer engines. Permanent lockout starves Jupitermon’s discount engine, BeelStarmon’s resource generation, and Glowing Dawn’s unsuspend triggers simultaneously. High investment but high ceiling.
▶ Best long-term investment. EX-13 investment pays off across BT-26 and BT-27.
BeelStarmon / Three Musketeers
65.1% WR
Tier S • BT-25 + BT-26
If you already own a BeelStarmon list, keep playing it. The Tamer disruption gameplan is still elite. The one new tech piece worth adding from EX-13 is Rie Kishibe (EX13-074), whose Tamer removal on Royal Knight attack adds another disruption layer that fits the deck’s gameplan naturally.
▶ Already own it? Keep playing. Add Rie Kishibe from EX-13.
Glowing Dawn BeatBreak (BT-26 Upgraded)
57.3% WR
Tier A • ST-23 + BT-25 + BT-26
The most player-friendly competitive deck. If you are newer to competitive play, Glowing Dawn with BT-26 upgrades (Pristimon + Bearcatmon) is the best learning deck in the format. Tier A performance with the most straightforward execution. Budget estimate with BT-26 upgrades: ~$80-120 total.
▶ Best deck for newer competitive players. Clear gameplan, strong results.
What to Buy Right Now
The October 2026 meta has three clear product priorities depending on your situation:
New to competitive — buy ST-24 Data Squad
Start at $15.99, get the full DATS engine, then add Rosemon: Burst Mode SR ($20-30) for a Tier S upgrade. Total investment: ~$40-50 for a genuinely competitive deck.
Playing BT-25 lists — buy BT-26 upgrade pieces as singles
Pristimon and Bearcatmon for Glowing Dawn, Rosemon: Burst Mode for Data Squad, Aegiochusmon: Holy for Jupitermon. Targeted singles from BT-26 are affordable 4-6 weeks post-release.
Want the best deck long-term — crack EX-13 boxes
Alphamon, Nokia Shiramine, and Rina Shinomiya from EX-13 are the strongest long-term additions. One box of EX-13 has a guaranteed SEC and 8-10 SRs. Good investment for players building toward BT-27 format.
